Local people hold it as second Kashi (Varanasi) in terms of religious relevance. The statue is a wonderful piece of ancient artistry and is worth crores of rupees. Many other statues made up of black stone are also housed around here. The place appears to be the centre of Shaiva Sect (the believers of Lord Shiva). A museum at a distance of 1 km from here is under construction. Fairs are organized on Shivratri, Basant Panchami & Shravan month. A number of people visit this temple on every Monday of Shravan month. In Shravan, Kanwarias complete their journey by offering water (Jalabhishek) to Lord Shiva in this temple.
